WHAT IS ALLIANCE FRANçAISE?
The Alliance Française de la Sunshine Coast is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity
In 1883, 140 years ago, Jules Verne and Louis Pasteur, along with other illustrious visionaries, designed
the structure for the Alliance Française whose mission is to promote French language and culture around the world. Based upon the
exchange of cultural and linguistic values, the Alliance Française still contributes to the gathering of thousands of women and men
who hold those values and want to continue to do so. The Alliances Françaises are the only language schools with worldwide
recognition and official accreditation by the government of France.
People who come to our classes are interested in what we share as well as our cultural differences. The Alliance Française de la Sunshine Coast is part of the world's largest network of French language schools: more than 820 Alliances Françaises in 132 countries. Every year, from the African continent to Northern Europe, from Asia to Oceania, the Alliances Françaises welcome over 500 000 students.
On the Sunshine Coast since 2008
Founded in 2008, the Alliance Française de la Sunshine Coast (AFSC) is a registered not-for-profit association dedicated to the promotion of the French language and culture. The AFSC encourages and promotes active, open connections between people on the Sunshine Coast and French language and culture. It provides the means by which people can learn the French language and become engaged in the many different aspects of French culture including art, books, poetry, film, history, gastronomy, contemporary affairs, thoughts and ideas.
EXPERIENCE
The AFSC is the perfect place to start learning French or develop your language skills at your own pace
with a great variety of courses for all levels and all ages. Discover the many reasons why learning French with us is a unique
experience. Our method of teaching emphasizes task-based learning with all instruction given in French with active student
participation. It is based on realistic and interactive activities which will enable the students to effectively communicate in everyday
situations.
The AFSC has three great locations: Mountain Creek, Nambour and Noosa Heads as well as a Skype/Zoom program.
The AFSC is reaching all the people throughout the region, including beginner students or fluent speakers, and gathering them through a wide range of affordable activities and services. It is also a cultural hub for all things related to French on the Sunshine Coast: social and cultural activities give you opportunities to practice French : movie screenings, wine tastings, cafe-conversations, etc...

We bring you the French Film Festival each year (April- June) and we celebrate La Galette des Rois, Bastille Day and Le Beaujolais Nouveau throughout the year.
